{"id":13,"date":"2005-09-05T10:10:43","date_gmt":"2005-09-05T14:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teachteach.com\/blog\/?p=13"},"modified":"2006-07-19T09:53:12","modified_gmt":"2006-07-19T13:53:12","slug":"whats-in-a-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teachteach.com\/blog\/2005\/09\/05\/whats-in-a-name\/","title":{"rendered":"what&#8217;s in a name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps you&#8217;re curious as to why my blog is titled &#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221; (or, perhaps you do not care&#8230;but indulge me.) <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I wanted to title it &#8220;Teacher, Teacher&#8221; but that domain was already taken.<\/li>\n<li>I like the play on the words, which involves a bit of grammar&#8211;observe:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-indent:65pt;\">\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221;&#8211;Could be an imperative, emphatically directing someone to teach.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221;&#8211;Could be a direct address and an imperative, with the directive of &#8220;teach&#8221; being given to someone whose nickname is &#8220;Teach.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Teach Teach&#8221;&#8211;Could be a nickname for someone who teaches teachers.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221;&#8211;Could be a play on the phrase &#8220;tech, tech&#8221; which is old and obscure and comes close to meaning &#8220;there, there,&#8221; a relatively weak expression of sympathy and pacification.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221;&#8211;Could be a play on the phrase &#8220;tsk, tsk&#8221; which is also old and obscure and comes close to meaning &#8220;naughty, naughty&#8221; a relatively weak expression of remonstrance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Who would have thought so many meanings could be evoked from the mere repetition of a single word?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps you&#8217;re curious as to why my blog is titled &#8220;Teach, Teach!&#8221; (or, perhaps you do not care&#8230;but indulge me.)
