Getting Started with Edublogs.org

  1. Go to http://www.edublogs.org.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the Create your edublog space.

  1. In Create your edublog area:
    1. Choose a user name. (important: this becomes part of your blog’s URL and cannot be changed, so choose wisely!)
    2. Name your blog. (this CAN be changed later…it is the title of your blog.)
    3. Your email address. Type carefully. If you type an incorrect email address, you’ll have to start over and the great name you originally chose for your blog will no longer be available.
    4. Click the Create! button
  2. If you are successful, you will be taken to a page similar to the one shown here. You can visit your blog, but you aren’t quite finished yet.

            5. When you click on the the URL to your blog, you’ll see something like this. You now have a published blog! But you can’t yet use it! You need to wait for that pesky email….sometimes this takes a bit of time depending on the time of day.

            6. Check your email periodically. You should receive the confirmation email within 10-20 minutes. If you don’t receive it before then…it’s possible you’ve typed in an incorrect email address. Irritating, isn’t it?

            7. Confirmation email: When it arrives, it will look something like this. I’ve highlighted the most important info.

            a. Your blog’s URL

            b. Your username (this cannot be changed)

            c. Your password (this CAN be changed later…but its important to know this so KEEP THIS EMAIL!! until we change it)

            d. The URL for administering and logging into your blog

Quick Tip: You’ll also receive an email confirmation for your Wikispace account, sometimes even BEFORE you get the confirmation from Edublogs.  Your login info for your Wikispace is exactly the same as your Edublogs login, so if you get that one first, you’re all set to login to your Edublogs blog.  Also, be sure to check your spam or junk mail folder—my Edublogs confirmation ended up in the spam folder of my Yahoo! email account.
